Distances 5km, 2km or 10km (run only for 10km, no dogs allowed)

What you need

Yourself, your family, your friends, your work mates, a well-behaved dog (the dog is optional, you can do the event on your own) and a sense of humour.

Conditions:
You dog must be on a lead at all time.
You need to clean up promptly after your dog.

Race Fees and Entry:
Race Entry Fee: $20/adult; $15/child under 18; $45/family

Dynamic Running has pledged $500 from the race fees to be donated to YAPS (Young Animal Protection Society).

FAQs

Why is this event being held:
This is a fundraising event for YAPS.

Where does the course go and how long is it?
The course is on the Cairns Esplanade footpaths, 2km, 5km or 10km.

Is there an age restriction?
No, but children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Is there a limit on participants? 
No

How fit do I have to be?
Anyone is welcome to participate – walk if you like.

Can I dress up in a costume? 
Of course! The more fun you have at the event the better, so feel free to dress up for a tropical run, in a gorilla costume, your best fluoro outfits. It’s up to you and the sky is the limit.

Can I enter on the day?
Yes, but get there by 6.00am. It is much easier to register online before the event.

Is there adequate parking?
Yes. Park in the car park by the fun ship or along the Esplanade.

Is there somewhere to leave my gear? 
No. Organise to lock it in someone’s car.

Can I wear an iPod?
Yes – provided it is turned down low enough to hear instructions from marshals, other runners and the general public.

Can I push a pram?
Yes, but you need to start at the back of the field.

Can I run with a dog?
Ha, ha, ha.

What does my entry fee pay for?

  • Personalised race bib
  • Snacks (fruit and pastries)
  • A fun, safe and community-spirited activity
  • Public liability insurance
  • Portion of race fee is donated to YAPS.

Can I get a refund on my entry fee? 

Race registration is not transferable to other people. If the competitor is unable to compete, a request for refund of the registration fee must be submitted to the organiser on or before 7.00am, 24 March 2016. A 10% administration fee applies to all refunds.

Should the event be cancelled for any reason whatsoever, entry fees in full or part may not be refunded and no liability of any kind will attach to any person, corporation or body involved or otherwise engaged in promoting or staging the event.

What happens if it’s raining? 
Do you live in Cairns or what? The event will only be cancelled if there are severe weather conditions such as flash flooding, thunder and lightning or strong winds. The Event Organisers reserves the right to cancel the event at short notice depending on severe weather conditions.

What do I do if I don’t feel well, or hurt myself during the race?
Report to the marshals on the course or to the volunteers at the finish.

Do you record my finish time and placement? 
Yes, for those doing the 10km or 5km runs. The fun run/walk is not timed, as participants can decide how far they are going to run/walk. Participants names will be published on the Dynamic Running Website and Facebook page and in The Cairns Post.

What do I do when I finish? 
Enjoy the company of the other participants. Check your dog is cooled down and hydrated. Enjoy the fruit and pastries that are available.

Can I volunteer at the event?
Yes please! We need people to help with manning drink stations, help at registration and at the finish. Please call us if you are interested in helping in any way. We’d love to have you as part of the Volunteer Team call 0417 798 444 or email email us.

Refunds

As per the Dynamic Running Waiter/Terms and Conditions:

Insurance

Event organiser, Dynamic Running Ltd., has $20 million public liability insurance cover. This does not include travel and personal accident insurance for competitors or volunteers. The Public Liability Insurance Cover does not cover personal injury for competitors. We recommend you get your own personal accident insurance.

Categories and prizes

There are various prizes up for grabs at the event.

  1. Prettiest / Ugliest dog – three categories: Large Dogs, Medium-sized Dogs, Small Dogs
  2. Best Dressed owner and dog – arrive early to get your photo taken to be eligible for this category.
  3. Best look-alike owner and dog.

The prize-giving will take place at the venue at approximately 5.00pm.

  • A few Lucky Draw Prizes.
  • Random Draw prize for volunteers.

Any other prizes for the 2016 event are yet to be secured.

The second best dressed dog received a visit for two adults to Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures.

 

Lucky Draw prizes that were handed out on the day were:

a Quicksilver Green Island visit for 2 adults; 

a vaccination voucher from Earlville Veterinary Clinic;

a vaccination voucher from Marlin Coast Veterinary Clinic;

a  $100 voucher from Reds Hairdressers in Edge Hill;

6 vouchers from Go-Kart Racing;

a family voucher to Go Bowling;

2 vouchers for a 1-hour Cable Ski session;

a $20 Coffee Club voucher and

a $30 Villa Romana voucher.

We had two prizes remaining for the best owner & dog photo - unfortunately due to the rain we did not get to hand these out on the day. We have a 18-whole round of golf at Paradise Palms Resort and Country Club or a family pass to the Paradise Palms Resort and Country Club Adventure Playground.

Dynamic Running’s Paws on the Path Fun Run/Walk, 26 April 2015

Run report by Lorraine Lawson

The 2nd Paws on the Path Fun Run/Walk took place today as a fundraiser for YAPS. Wonderful weather allowed the runners and walkers to enjoy the best the Cairns Esplanade has on offer. The 80-odd participants and volunteers had a great time, made even more memorable with all the dogs around to steal the show.

$917 collected through entry fees and donations is being donated to the Young Animal Protection Society (YAPS). Thank you to everyone for your generous donations.

A special thank you to YAPS for helping out with providing tables, calendars and keyrings. PETstock donated $40 vouchers, a free dog wash and $10 discount vouchers to three lucky participants, while Dynamic Running provided two participants with double movie passes. Cairns Regional Council supported the event in providing a discounted hire fee for the venue. All volunteers received a complimentary hot beverage from Zarraffa’s Coffee Cairns Showgrounds. A big thank you also to the participants who donated fruit and sweets on the day!

Full results and photographs are on the Dynamic Running website and facebook page. For those keen to come back next year, the date for the event is yet to be set, but will more than likely fall on the ANZAC weekend again.
